Beginner Swim ClassApril 6-April 22, 2010 Tues/Thurs 8:30am-9:30am This course is for those who are already somewhat comfortable treading or swimming in deep water. The goal is to learn the freestyle from the "ground up" starting with the basics: floating face down, moving up to and maintaining horizontal body position, and creating forward momentum by adding the flutter kick and arm strokes. Through a series of drills we will learn to maintain a correct, streamlined body position whil practicing stroke mechanics and building endurance. Goggles, snorkel and mask are recommended. This course is geared toward triathletes who aren't really swimmers or don't really care for the swimming portion of the race. Focus on stroke mechanics and maintaining a relaxed, streamlined body position for maximum swimming efficiency.
