You’ve worked hard all year to stay fit, but Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and the delicious food and dessert will be difficult to resist. You can enjoy the holidays while maintaining the healthy habits you’ve developed. Here are 3 tips to stay on track and avoid holiday weight gain:
Don’t eat if you’re full
Commit to portioning your dinner and dessert for the night and stopping yourself from eating once you’re full. Normally people overeat on Thanksgiving, but you can plan ahead to enjoy your dinner without adding too many calories to your diet.
Focus on fun, not on food
Food is obviously an important part of Thanksgiving, but dinner should not be the main focus of the holiday. Plan fun games and activities with family and friends during the celebration. Walk around and talk to guests to stay active and engaged throughout the evening.
Black Friday workout
The day after Thanksgiving, meet with a friend for a morning workout. Meeting with a friend will help you stay committed to your workout routine and burn off those extra calories. Check the group exercise schedule at the Center to attend a class on Black Friday as another option. Our degreed and certified fitness specialists will give you a safe and effective workout that leaves you energized instead of lethargic from dinner the night before.
You can stay committed to your health and wellness goals during the holiday season.
