April 25th marks the final day of the Chelsea Wellness Center Challenge! Every year, throughout February and March, we see a significant increase in attendance in Group Exercise classes at the center. Seeing new faces in classes is always inspiring and gratifying, especially when members discover that they actually enjoy participating in classes! Most of us are creatures of habit and stick with our routines of choice because we are comforted by routines and empowered by successfully mastering them. For many members, it takes the Wellness Challenge to try new modes of exercise on the fitness floor and set foot in classes they have never tried before. Many members have “a-ha” moments and are hooked by our quality of instructors and classes and enjoy attending them from that moment forward, but unfortunately, after the Challenge concludes annually, some members fall back on old routines and habits.
My challenge to you this year is to “Continue the Challenge”! Rather than falling back, continue to branch out and try new classes and programs as we enter into Spring and beyond. I am always excited when our members have long-term success after the Wellness Challenge has ended. That’s the true meaning of the Challenge- that it serves to kick-off a newfound path to healthy living and wellness- not just a crash course for two months out of the year. Keep treading new avenues, venturing into our studios or pool to experience new classes. Or, if you tend to only do classes, try scheduling a few personal training sessions on the Fitness Floor to get acclimated with all that we have to offer downstairs.
Getting out of your comfort zone is often the ticket to success when it comes to breaking fitness plateaus and continuing down the path of healthy living. Keep challenging yourself all year long!
